The Serra dos Órgãos National Park was created on November 30, 1939, to protect the exceptional landscape and biodiversity of this stretch of Serra do Mar in the Mountain Region of Rio de Janeiro. There are 20,024 hectares protected in the municipalities of Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim. The Park is a Federal Conservation Unit managed by ICMBio, a federal agency linked to the Ministry of the Environment – MMA. It is distinguished as one of the main places in the country for practicing mountain sports, such as climbing, hiking, rappelling and others; in addition to having several waterfalls. The National Park has the largest network of trails in Brazil. There are more than 200 km of trails at all levels of difficulty: from the suspended trail, accessible to wheelchair users, to the heavy Petrópolis-Teresópolis Crossing, with 30 km of ascents and descents through the high part of the mountains. ICMBio, through Notice of Consultation and Public Hearing nº 10/2022, invited society to participate and contribute to the project to grant services to support visitation, ecological tourism, environmental interpretation and recreation in contact with the nature in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park. Contributions can be made between December 22, 2022 and March 19, 2023 through the electronic form. The notice and other related documents were also made available for consideration. Through Public Consultation and Hearing Notice No. 2/2023, amended on 03/27/2023, ICMBio extended the deadline for completing the public consultation by 60 calendar days. Contributions can be made until 11:59 pm on May 18, 2023 through an electronic form available at http://web.bndes.gov.br/index.php/773382?land=pt-BR. Resolutions and Decrees: Resolution No. 157, of December 2, 2020 – Opines for the qualification under the Investment Partnership Program – PPI and for the inclusion in the National Privatization Program – PND of the conservation units Floresta Nacional de Brasília, Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos, Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, Ubajara National Park, Serra da Bocaina National Park, Serra da Capivara National Park, Serra da Bodoquena National Park, Jaú National Park and Anavilhanas National Park, for concession purposes to provide public services to support visitation, with provision for funding actions to support the conservation, protection and management of the aforementioned units. Decree No. 10,673, of April 13, 2021 – Provides for the qualification of conservation units in the Investment Partnership Program of the Presidency of the Republic and their inclusion in the National Privatization Program. CPPI Resolution No. 293, of November 22, 2023 – Opinions for maintaining the qualification of conservation units only within the scope of the Investment Partnership Program of the Presidency of the Republic.
