Description | The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has identified its preferred route for a new transmission line in Sevier County, Tennessee. The project aims to strengthen reliability and meet increasing energy demands in the region with minimal impact on the surrounding area. The transmission line will be approximately three miles long, connecting TVA's existing Douglas Hydro–Pigeon Forge #2 161-kV line to the Sevier County Electric System's new Waldens Creek 161-kV substation. It will be a single-circuit 161-kV line built with single- and double-pole H-frame steel structures within a new 100-foot-wide right of way. Survey work is planned to begin in winter 2025, easement acquisition in fall 2026, construction in spring 2027, and completion by winter 2027. Property owners will retain land ownership with TVA obtaining easements and providing compensation based on fair market value. |
