Sewer Relining Program Acceleration - Design and Construction

Project is rehabilitation and lining of about 360m of existing 750mm sanitary trunk sewer located between Carling Arena (675 Grosvenor St) and Adelaide Street N, and Wallace St and St. James (North and South). This sewer is in poor condition and lining presents a cost effective alternative to replacement. The sewer runs through the rear yards of numerous properties with no access from the street for equipment. Inaccessible for a large portion so little maintenance over the years has led to buildup of debris and calcite, resulting in capacity loss. This work will require Maintenance Hole (MH) modifications to allow for liner to be installed. One MH is in a rear yard on private property. Other rear yard MH’s will be lined through it will be necessary to bury a by-pass pipe in a couple of spots half way across Adelaide and run the main by-pass pipe down the middle lanes of Adelaide St from Wallace St to St James St. This will require the closing of the north and southbound passing lanes for the duration of the lining (one lane of traffic to remain in each direction). The eligible costs are limited to public/municipal property and assets.
