Description
Description | The overall objective of the project is to create a working model for prevention and control of sexual harassment in nightlife entertainment spots. What concerns the context of the project, the most attention is usually paid to sexual harassment occurring at workplaces. The EU Council Directive 2004/113/EC specifically acknowledges that sexual harassment in areas outside of the labour market can be equally damaging. The FRA research from 2012 reveals that approximately 8 percent of women in Europe have suffered sexual violence in pubs, discos, and similar establishments. The main achievement of the project expected is creation of a multipliable working model to curb nightlife sexual harassment. The model will be created through the following planned activities: a) introduction of quality management systems in nightlife entertainment spots; b) trainings to the staff of nightlife entertainment spots; c) networking among local businesses, municipal institutions, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders; d) awareness raising and education of potential victims and witnesses of sexual harassment. The project will produce the following outcomes: - multipliable working model will be created and introduced in Vilnius and Ljubljana; - trainings to at least 100 persons employed by nightlife entertainment of Vilnius and Ljubljana will be provided; knowledge accumulated during the project will be shared to at least 125 people in other cities of the EU through a series of seminars; - networks of municipal institutions, law enforcement agencies, and local businesses will be created in Vilnius and Ljubljana; - EU-wide awareness raising campaign will reach 500 000 people EU wide. It is hoped that the project will lead to a long-term effect – creation of a nightlife culture where sexual harassment is not tolerated and where effective and efficient steps are taken by state, municipal institutions, nightlife establishments and bystanders to stop sexual harass |
