Finland: a new EU Media support programme to cover a period of 2020-2021. The main objective of the application is to support European film distribution in Finland. Major US studio releases are currently powering in the market. This is overwhelming control of the paid media space, hardly letting any room for medium size or small quality films. By the help of this programme we can still gurantee the European Film Distribution legacy will not disappear from our market. The programme hopefully enables the existence of the European film, especially on the big screen, will continue also in the future. The target is to ensure two to four annual big screen releases of European films in the market. This is one to two films targeted to children and families and another half to adult mature audience having a strong relation to local festivals and a heritage of cultural understanding of European quality films.
