The FC project SFD XII Employment Promotion continues the support of the Yemeni Social Fund for Development (SFD) that began in 2003. It is directly linked to the SFD IX and X (rural development and employment) projects. The SFD is thus financing measures to rehabilitate and expand the social and economic infrastructure in poor areas across the country. The use of FC funds is intended exclusively for labour-intensive infrastructure measures of the SFD with a wage share of at least 60%. The aim of the FC measure is to contribute to stabilising Yemen and to cushioning the effects of the current crisis for poor population groups, especially in rural areas. By providing basic infrastructure in a way that is geared towards poverty, the SFD is making a significant contribution to alleviating the consequences of the political crisis and the effects of the war in large parts of Yemen for poor population groups. A financial contribution of EUR 5.0 million is being made available as part of the FC measure.
