SFMTA Parking Facilities Elevator Upgrades Share this: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Project Introduction Over the next year, the SFMTA will rehabilitate and modernize elevators in 4 city-owned parking facilities. Critical parts of the elevators will be upgraded to make them more efficient and reliable and be able to handle new technology. Once complete, the benefits associated with the elevator upgrades include: Reduced energy costs Increased rider safety Improved reliability Improved operating efficiency Improved performance More energy efficient An enhanced Ride Quality Smooth Acceleration Smooth deceleration Minimal Noise/vibration Elevator Upgrade Locations Polk-Bush Vallejo Union Square Sutter-Stockton Moscone Features of the New Elevators New closed loop door operators will provide a new type of motorized mechanism that opens and closes the doors to make it safer and more reliable. Custom door and cab sills provide metal tracks that guide the doors to open and close, with debris traps to reduce door issues caused by foreign objects. Elevator/Escalator Management System will use computers to allow 24/7 monitoring and remote troubleshooting of the equipment.
