The Department is continuing the implementation of the Sewer Rehabilitation Program to upgrade its existing small diameter sewers to reduce the amount of extraneous flows, infiltration and inflow (I/I) entering the system, in addition to eliminating sanitary sewer overflows and capacity limitations. To accomplish this objective, the City is proposing system improvements for small diameter sewers situated in the Nancy Creek, Proctor Creek, and Peachtree Creek Sewer Basins. This project is necessary to meet the requirements of the Second Amended Consent Decree (SACD), which prescribes evaluation and improvement measures to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) and to protect the City’s investment in upgraded water reclamation facilities. Structural upgrades to the system are necessary to replace old and deteriorated sewers in order ensure the extended service life, reliability, and improve flow conveyance.
