Description | A $49 million highway realignment project on SH-82 near Tahlequah began in March 2024. The project includes construction of a retention pond for water runoff to mitigate flooding issues. However, the current design causes water to flow away from the ditch toward downhill homes, causing flooding and access issues. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is working to update the drainage solution and plans to begin construction on the updated drainage by the end of April 2026, with property restoration to follow. The project is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026, weather permitting. |
