Shaanxi Green Intelligent Transport and Logistics Management Demonstration Project

The project is intended to finance and implement measures to develop and implement intelligent (green) transport and logistics concepts in the central Chinese province of Shaanxi. It is being carried out as co-financing with the Asian Development Bank ADB and contributes to the implementation of the focus of financial cooperation (FC) with China on the protection of global public goods, as agreed with the BMZ. The KfW FC promotional loan of EUR 180 million is intended to finance the development of a comprehensive, integrated and innovative IT platform, the construction of logistics centers (cold storage and warehouses) and associated technical components for process optimization and energy savings (lighting, cooling, transport and communication equipment) and associated training and consulting services. The project is associated with positive environmental effects and, in particular, significant CO2 savings. In total, the concept associated with the new logistics centers being built in and around Xian comprises nine different components, all of which aim to reduce energy consumption. The project has a demonstration character for other locations in Shaanxi itself, but also in other provinces of China.
