Description
Description | Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) signed a ten year management contract with the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Government of Bangladesh) in December 2005, to manage the Shah Amanat International Airport in the city of Chittagong, Bangladesh. THAI won the management contract by requesting the lowest cumulative management fee of US$ 9.06 million. Under the contract, THAI was expected to operate, maintain and manage the airport terminal building, ramp handling, cargo handling, airport security, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, as well as preventive and routine maintenance. In addition, THAI was responsible for collecting fees for airport landing charges, security charges, embarkation fees, as well as ground handling related fees on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh. The management contract was expected to become operational in March 2006. In June 2007, Thai Airways decided to terminate the contract citing costs as a factor. Although the contract was signed, the airport was never actually handed over to Thai Airways. The Bangladeshi government also issued a statement that the contract was terminated and that they would issue a fresh tender. Not sure if this project ever took off. Please check. None |
