Description | The Shahpur Kandi Dam project aims to serve as a lifeline for Punjab by boosting power generation, providing extensive irrigation facilities, and promoting water sports across North India. It will irrigate 5,000 hectares of land in Punjab and ensure continuous irrigation supply to 1.18 lakh hectares under the Upper Bari Doab Canal system. The dam will also help the Ranjit Sagar Dam Power House operate at full capacity by storing downstream water. Additionally, the dam, along with Ranjit Sagar Dam and Chamrod, will be developed as a world-class tourism hub. |
