Description

The Shamli-Gorakhpur Expressway is a 742 km long highway in Uttar Pradesh, India, designed to be the state's longest expressway. The expressway starts near Shamli close to the Haryana border and ends at Kushinagar near Bihar, providing a faster route from western to eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and improving connectivity near the Nepal border. It is planned as a controlled-access road with four main lanes expandable later, with six-lane wide bridges, flyovers, and railway overbridges. Land acquisition is underway, managed by NHAI's western and eastern offices. The project aims to boost trade, tourism, cargo transport, and industry links across northern India, with an expected completion by 2030.
