Shandong Qingdao Zhangcun River Waste Water Treatment Plant Phase I and II Upgrading Project

"The project comprises the securing of a concession agreement for the upgrade and operation of Zhangcun River Waste Water Treatment Plant (“Qingdao Zhangcun River Plant”) Phase I and II. The sponsor is a consortium, lead by China Everbright Water Limited. It signed a concession agreement of March 13, 2024, with an investment of approximately $95.79m or RMB688 million. The concession period is 30 years (inclusive of a construction period). The project will be invested in, constructed, operated and maintained based on the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model by a project company to be incorporated by the Consortium, in which Everbright Water holds a 49% equity interest. The other sponsor is Qingdao Environmental Energy, holding respectively 51%. The construction work designed a daily waste water treatment of 60,000 m3 for phase II and daily waste water treatment of 40,000 m3 for phase I. The effluent after treatment will be disinfected and used to replenish the water of Zhangcun River. The implementation of Qingdao Zhangcun River Project will further improve the municipal waste water collection and treatment system in Zhangcun River coverage area, and meet the increasing demand for waste water treatment in the local region.
