Description
Description | Founded over 70 years ago, the EMI has continuously advocated in favour of European co-operation and integration, based on the principles of peace, democracy, liberty, solidarity, equality, justice, the respect for human rights and the rule of law. Our activities presented herein reflect our priorities in the next year and citizen-centric response to the most relevant political, economic, social and cultural priorities for Europe as seen by our diverse membership, multitude of civil society networks and other institutional actors. The activities which include policy and advocacy work, events, communications and campaigns, cover a broad range of topics, structured in three main pillars: 1) Democracy, Citizen Participation and Fundamental Values; 2) A Social, Sustainable, Creative and Prosperous Europe; 3) Europe in the World. The objectives are to connect citizens’ priorities, ideas and views with the key policies of the EU in these three areas, bridge the perceived gap between the EU and citizens, and enhance citizens’ awareness and engagement in the policies and decisions that will shape the Union’s future, while enhancing transparency, inclusiveness and accountability of decision-making processes, and strengthening civil society and civic space, democracy, fundamental rights, EU values, and the rule of law. Designed around three Work packages the proposed action will engage the civil society and institutional stakeholders at national and EU level in dialogue, exchange (30.000 direct participants) and capacity building activities (at least 50 CSOs) as well as at least 5 million citizens in awareness raising campaigns like Europe day and dissemination activities (more than 50 000 social media followers). We will launch at least 30 advocacy initiatives related to the most pressing issues of our time related to a number of strategic European policy priorities, democracy, rule of law, human rights and transparency. |
