Description
Description | Founded in 1948, the EMI has continuously advocated for European co-operation and integration based on the principles of peace, democracy, liberty, solidarity, equality, justice, respect for human rights and the rule of law. Our activities reflect anticipated priorities for the next year and citizen-centric response to future-proof Europe addressing the most relevant political, economic, security, social and cultural priorities as seen by our vast and diverse membership (68 members operating in 29 countries). The activities apply policy and advocacy, events, communications and campaigns and re-granting mechanism for our National Councils and capacity building for the civil society. The action will cover a broad range of topics, structured in three main pillars: 1) Democracy, Citizen Participation and Fundamental Values; 2) A Social, Sustainable, Creative and Prosperous Europe; 3) Europe in the World. It seeks to promote new ideas about the future of Europe, spark debate on the EU’s architecture and develop forward-looking proposals in favour of European cooperation and integration. The objectives are to connect citizens’ priorities and views with the key EU policies, enhance awareness and engagement in the decisions that will shape the EU's future, build the capacity of CSOs to achieve a lasting impact in their communities on the issues related to the EU values and contribute to transparency, inclusiveness and accountability of the EU decision-making processes. The action will engage citizens, civil society, and institutional stakeholders at the national and EU level in dialogue, exchange (at least 15.000 direct events participants in more than 20 encounters), and increase CSO capacity through re-granting and mentoring (at least 8 national projects); reach and engage at least 10 million citizens in campaigns, like Europe Day campaign Policy campaigns, engage with our 62.000 followers and mail subscribers via more than 100 newsletters and 4 new positions. |
