SHARE Wave 10 in 11 countries to maintain EU coverage

The overall aim of this proposed project is to maintain full EU coverage in SHARE Wave 10 to provide the largest possible SHARE database to the research community, the EU Commission, and supranational organisations. This includes all final preparations and the start of the main data collection of Wave 10, data cleaning and data release in 11 SHARE member countries. The overall aim will be achieved by extending the support of DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion in the eight EU member states that joined SHARE in Wave 7 (BG, CY, FI, LT, LV, MT, RO, SK) with the exception of Latvia, which was able to secure national funding for Wave 10, and in four “crisis countries” (EE, ES, GR, PT). To reach this aim, SHARE needs financial support for the following activities: 1. To manage and coordinate the project and foster internal communication via conferences, working meetings, and electronic means (WP1) 2. To provide the SHARE survey instruments and fieldwork management tools for the data collection of Wave 10 (WP2) 3. To run central procurement of survey agencies and administer and monitor the test runs of SHARE Wave 10 in the 11 countries (WP3) 4. To enforce strict survey standards and common procedures to SHARE’s multi-team setup in order to insure top quality, consistency and efficiency throughout the entire project (WP4) 5. To organise and execute data processing and data cleaning procedures (WP5) 6. To finalise the Wave 10 questionnaire (WP6) SHARE will support research and evidence-based policy recommendations in the areas of long-term care, healthcare, informal care, labour force participation, work-life balance, pensions, and access to social protection of respondents aged 50 and older. The project will provide the basis for new data in these areas. Moreover, in combination with data from the two SHARE Corona Surveys this project will shed light on the social and economic disruptions and other long-term effects of COVID-19 and the epidemic control decisions.
