Description

Description

"Family plays a crucial role in shaping children's media habits, yet there is a striking lack of tools designed for families to navigate the digital world together. As ""bedroom culture"" becomes more common, children explore online spaces alone, increasing their exposure to misinformation and online risks. Parents, concerned about screen time and digital safety, often lack the resources to guide them effectively. Simply restricting content is not enough—families need practical tools to engage with media critically, fostering discussion, digital resilience, and safe habits. SharedTime bridges this gap, offering an interactive, multilingual platform where parents and children learn to recognize misinformation, discuss online safety, and develop critical thinking together. Through 10 monthly issues including a digital newsletter for partners, downloadable readings for children, gamified activities, news explainers, and interactive fact-checking exercises, families strengthen their ability to assess digital content responsibly. Community engagement and dissemination is key to SharedTime’s success. The project leverages the partners' combined large audiences, alongside engagement with schools and family networks, to ensure widespread adoption among families of diverse backgrounds. A beta-testing phase with 150 families across Spain, Italy, and Ireland will refine the platform, leading up to its launch at the Internazionale Kids Festival and national events in Madrid, Barcelona, and Dublin, with the goal of getting 10.000 families to subscribe by the end of the 18-months project. Built for long-term sustainability, SharedTime integrates a Business Model Toolkit, that will explore different approaches to achieve continued impact and foster scalability and replication accross Europe. By prioritizing diversity and accessibility, the project equips families with essential media literacy skills, fostering a new generation of informed, responsible digital citizens."
