Description | The Sharjah Waste-to-Energy project is the first commercial-scale waste-to-energy plant in the Middle East, converting waste into electricity to divert waste from landfills and support UAE's sustainability goals. The plant began operations in 2022 and is owned and operated by the Emirates Waste-to-Energy company, a joint venture involving Tadweer Group and BEEAH. Plans are underway to increase power output from 30 MW to 60 MW and double processing capacity for hard-to-recycle waste. |
