Shawinigan Marina Park

The Shawinigan Marina Park will be developed on a former industrial wasteland owned by the Economic Development Division of the City of Shawinigan: the Shawinigan Development Corporation Inc.. This entity has the mandate to promote the city’s industrial, commercial and tourism interests, as well as manage movable and immovable property belonging to the City of Shawinigan. In more detail, the elements of the project include: • Constructing a marina with approximately 99 berths, 10 of which are eligible for financial assistance and will be reserved for tourists; • Constructing a main building comprising a harbour master’s office, a reception area for boaters (showers, toilets, laundry facilities), a restaurant (under the responsibility of the town) and a multi-purpose hall; • Building a service pavilion with a lookout point and promontory for users of the riverside park; • Converting a timber conveyor pillar into an observation tower and interpretation centre; • Restorating the riverbanks and development of a riverside promenade; • Developing an observation deck, an open-air play area and a multi-purpose station along the site; • Developing two car parks, one with around 100 spaces for cars and the other with 15 oversized spaces for trailers and watercraft towing vehicles; • Decontaminating the soil on the project site.
