Shawnigan Lake - The Expansion of the Shawnigan Lake Museum

The project increase the access to cultural events by expanding the Shawnigan Lake Museum from 2,100 sq. ft. to approximately 6,100 sq. ft. The lack of space has significantly limited the operations of the Museum and the services it is can offer to the community and visitors. Accessibility, exhibition space, programming, events, access to archival records, collections management, and volunteer participation are all aspects of the Museum that are restricted by the existing size of the building. The growing population of Shawnigan Lake also points to the need for this project, as the museum is consistently unable to meet demand for its services. The project will construct: - an approximately 4,000 sq. ft. expansion building which will including: a multi-purpose room, gallery space; kitchen; archival and research space; community living/meeting room; entrance lobby with reception area; - construction of storage areas; - construction of washrooms; -completion of landscaping; and - other related works
