She Raps

She Raps is a pilot project for the emergence and professionalization of female rappers in Europe. While rap is a dominant genre of musical expression today, particularly among young people, it is almost exclusively artistically represented by men, at least the level of the general public. Our goal: enable the structuring of a European ecosystem with professionals and media, facilitate the professionalization of female rappers, so that the place of women in rap is no longer questioned, and so that the public can have access to cultural diversity representatives of our world via rap music. She Raps will rely on an experiment successfully carried out in France by the project leader, Rafe Productions, since 2021 (Rappeuses en Liberté), and on a consortium allowing the design of a pilot project and its field testing with organizations based ion various countries : Les Ardentes (Belgium), Backout Hiphop (Croatia), Skoola (Portugal). She raps will be carried out through 4 distinct phases, over two years:  1st phase  A study on the female practice of rap music, the professional ecosystems, the needs and educational recommendations for the emergence of female rappers in Europe will be carried out. 2nd phase  She Raps - training : selecting and training locally 28 female rappers from the 4 partner countries with more than 60 hours of creative and professionalizing workshops. A jury will vote to select 10 “winning” rappers advancing to the next phase. 3rd phase  She Raps - acceleration: European co-created circulation and visibility for the 10 “winning” rappers: composing and recording of a collective song during a Summer Camp in Croatia (3 days), Summer Camp Stage in Belgium (3 days), 4 concerts in Europe, including one at les Ardentes, a major hip hop festival in Europe. 4th phase  An evaluation and impact study will be carried out, a guide for the professionalization of female rappers will be drafted and, disseminated across Europe to encourage new collaborative initiatives. A round table discussion will be held in Paris.
