Description

Description

The project entails the construction of the 50MW Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed solar plant, located in Blitta prefecture, Togo. The project was launched after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2019 between the Ministry of Mines and Energies and the sponsor - AMEA Power. AMEA Power will build, own, operate and transfer the solar power plant. The facility will sell electricity to the Togo Electric Power Company (CEET) under a 25-year PPA. The planned power output is split into two phases, with the first phase building out 30MW and the remainder to follow in a second phase. The project has a pretax total cost of XOF21.5 billion (USD36.35 million) and is co-financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (USD15 million), Amea Power, and West African Development Bank (BOAD) which provides the Togolese Government with a concessional loan of XOF7 billion (USD11.83 million). Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed solar plant is the country’s first utility scale renewable energy project developed by an independent power producer and will provide electricity to 600,000 homes and 700 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). https://ameapower.com/amea-power-signs-power-purchase-agreement-and-concession-agreement-for-50mw-solar-power-project-in-togo/ https://www.republicoftogo.com/Toutes-les-rubriques/Societe/L-energie-d-etre-solidaire https://www.afrik21.africa/en/togo-amea-power-starts-construction-work-for-blitta-solar-power-plant/ https://constructionreviewonline.com/2020/02/construction-of-50mw-blitta-solar-power-plant-in-togo-begins/ https://www.pv-magazine.com/2020/02/06/construction-starts-on-50-mw-pv-plant-in-togo/ https://www.boad.org/en/launching-of-the-first-phase-of-the-construction-of-a-30-mw-solar-power-plant-project-at-blitta-in-the-republic-of-togo-cofinanced-by-boad-to-the-tune-xof7-billion/
