Description

In Novemeber of 2001, Anhui Guozhen Environmental Protection Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (GZEP) was awarded a 15-year management contract for the Longtian and Shatian Sewage Treatment Plants of Kengzi town, Longgang district, Guangdong province. The total processing capacity for Longtian Sewage Treatment Plant was 60,000 tons per day while the processing capacity of Shatian Sewage Treatment Plant was 5,000 tons per day. To implement the contract, a joint venture project company was formed between the state-owned Shenzhen Biyuntian Environment Company and GZEP (exact shares unknown). GZEP was a private business from Anhui Province. According to reports, originally, the operating and maintenance costs per month of the two sewage treatment plants was more than RMB 500,000, but under the management contract the government was to pay RMB 400,000 to GZEP, saving the municipality RMB1.2 million every year. http://www.iges.or.jp/kitakyushu/Successful%20Practices/SP%20(Analyzed)/Water/Shenzhen.pdf None
