In July 2006, Changi Airports International formed a joint venture with Sheremetyevo International Airport Joint Stock Co, a state owned company, to manage and operate a new passenger terminal, the second terminal in the airport. Sheremetyevo, built for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, was one of three airports serving Moscow, the capital of and largest city in Russia. Sheremetyevo would hold a 51% in the joint company, and Changi the remaininig 49%. The international terminal was launched in March 2007 and cost second US$87.677 million. The new terminal was expected to handle five million passengers a year and generate revenue of US$$110 million annually. no information on service contract duration, the JV plans to operate up to 10 russian airports in future
