Shickendaz 2 SWM Pond Rehabilitation and Sediment Cleanout

The Shickandanz 2 Storm Water Management Pond is a rehabilitation, retrofit and sediment cleanout project including removal of approximately 60 m3 of sediment and installation of an Oil Grit Separator unit. The project was identified in the Stormwater Management Facility Maintenance Guidance (SWMFMG) report as a priority for retrofit. The Storm Water Management pond is located in Bowmanville, Ontario draining to Soper Creek; a watercourse that ultimately drains to the Bowmanville Marsh which is a significant coastal wetland. The estimated cost for cleanout of the project exceeds the annual funding amount and would not proceed in 2017/2018 without special funding from the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund (CWWF). The removal works are capitalized as they extend the life of the asset.
