Shifa International Hospital (SIH or Company) is a leading healthcare entity in Pakistan that provides outpatient and inpatient care as well as diagnostic and imaging services to an estimated 531,000 patients annually. SIH, publicly listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange, has been in operations for last 25 years and has capacity to independently establish and run end to end operations in healthcare. SIH currently employs 4500+ staff including doctors and registered nurses in three hospitals in Pakistan with a total capacity of 550 beds, including a 450 beds flagship hospital in Islamabad which is a quaternary care facility and acquired Joint Commission International accreditation in 2017. SIH is also running successfully four organ transplant programs (kidney, liver, bone marrow and corneal transplant). A consulting arm of SIH, Shifa Consulting Services, offers services related to development of healthcare projects, setting up of facilities, provision of medical staff, quality control, equipment optimization, HR trainings as well as direct operational management of healthcare facilities.  SIH’s current operations include a quaternary healthcare flagship (H-8) hospital, G-10 Hospital, Faisalabad 50 bed hospital, Peshawar healthcare centre, UAE referral centre, Shifa Laboratory pickup points and external pharmacies.   Shifa also operates a Not For Profit, sister organization, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University comprising of college of medicine (1000+ graduates since its establishment in 1999), college of nursing (900+ graduates since its establishment in 2004) and other disciplines including pharmacy, medical technology, physical therapy, and healthcare management. University also offers clinical programs and 27 post graduate training programs. Shifa also includes in its group two not for profit philanthropist organizations, the Shifa Foundation and the Tameer-e-Millat Foundation.  The project includes expansion in existing flagship hospital, establishment of a day surgery centre at Islamabad, and establishment of two new multi-speciality hospitals one each at Faisalabad, Pakistan and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The project will require three years to complete and is estimated to cost US$ 81 million with IFC investment up to US$10 million in equity and US$14million equivalent in Pakistan rupees as loan. The expansion in flagship hospital at Islamabad will add 51 beds in various units and an additional radiology facility to have one MRI, IR suit, CT scanner units each and 8 ultrasound machines. Outpatient care and day surgery facility will be established on land already acquired by SIH at Islamabad and will have onsite diagnostic and imaging services, a pharmacy, a diabetes management centre, physiotherapy department, and daily dialysis facility. Facility at Faisalabad will be built on a newly acquired land and will include a 250 beds hospital with all major specialities and surgery clinics. Facility at Tanzania will be a 300 bed multi-speciality hospital to be managed by SIH and is being developed in partnership with local investors. The project involves conversion of an existing 272,000 sq. ft building into hospital. SIH has signed a MOU with a local partner who is a real estate developer in Tanzania who also owns the building.
