Description | Information South Western Railway [SWR] - II has come up with Shimoga-Harihar New Line Project [78.66 Km] with a ticket size of 832.47 INR Crores. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Agro based, Automobile based and engineering are the major industries present in Shimoga district. At present the movement of products from those industries is being done through Birur and Harihar line. Now-a-days a handsome number of agro and automobile based industries are likely to be established at Shimoga, Machanahalli & Bhadravati. Considering the additional traffic likely to be generated for from these areas, an additional rail line is necessary. Currently, the land acquisition for this project is not yet initiated by the Governemnt of Karanataka, hence the work is yet to be taken up. Hence the lkely date of pending land acquisition and the Project Start Date are tentative dates of the project. |
