In April 2014, a local private company, Beijing Origin Water Technology Company signed a management agreement with the Shiyan Municipal Government regarding the Shendinghe Wastewater Treatment Plant. After some rehabilitation work for RMB 80 million (US$ 13.03 million), the Plant increased its treatment capacity to 165,000 tons per day. Origin Water would then operate the plant for 8 years.
