Shoemaker Bridge Replacement Project

The City of Long Beach plans to remove and replace the 72-year-old Shoemaker Bridge with a new state-of-the-art bridge just south of the existing alignment. The new bridge will feature an elevated roundabout at its eastern end, providing direct connections to Seventh Street and Shoreline Drive. The project includes dedicated bike and pedestrian paths to enhance mobility and improve connections between the east and west sides of the I-710 corridor. Ahead of the bridge replacement, some on and off-ramps to the Shoemaker Bridge will permanently close to facilitate demolition work and construction of an on-dock rail facility at the port.
