The Shore Acres Flood Mitigation Project is a major infrastructure effort aimed at reducing severe flooding in the Shore Acres neighborhood of St. Petersburg. The project involves upgrading stormwater infrastructure along approximately 10 miles of roadway, including upsized pipes, new stormwater pump stations, box culverts, and raised roadway segments and intersections. A key feature is a new underground stormwater pump station with multiple large pumps and emergency backup power to ensure operation during outages. The project addresses flooding caused by storm surge, high tides, and heavy rainfall by implementing a pumped stormwater system to improve drainage.
