Description

Description

The project will rehabilitate more than 1700’ of underground sanitary wastewater piping system ensuring uninterrupted services, mitigate the risk of contaminating the facility’s private water supply and environment. The facility was constructed in 1974 and there have been many wastewater system failures in the last 10 years. This project will provide a solution to prevent continued deterioration and emergency repairs of under slab cast iron wastewater pipes within the facility. New non-invasive trenchless technology [cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) system] will allow pipe liner installation within the existing cast iron pipe that creates a seamless, joint-less pipe-within-a-pipe that is used to rehabilitate deteriorated sanitary drains lines with minimal disruption. CIPP process creates a protective structural pipe inside the existing host pipe system, without digging or other invasive procedures. Shoreham Village is a 90 resident LTC facility which is built on a slab at grade. Each time a wastewater system failure is experienced the concrete slab needs to be excavated to complete the repair. This work is not limited to back house areas, it can include public corridors and resident rooms, creating a significant operational challenge and Infection Prevention And Control concerns.
