Description | In October 1997, the Sichuan Expressway Company Limited launched an IPO for H- shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The Company was established by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Communications to build, develop and operate transport projects in Sichuan Province. New World Infrastructure purchased a 9.9% equity share for HK$393 million (US$ 51 million). New World Infrastructure has also signed a joint venture contract with the Sichuan Expressway Company and one other SOE for the development and operation of the 43.03km Chengdu Ring Expressway, but was awaiting government approval before investing its capital. Total revenue raised from the share issue was $182 million (approx.). New World disposed of its share in the company in 2001. |
