New World Infrastructure and Sichuan Qianwei Power Company, the provincial owned utility, created a joint venture, under the legal figure of sino-foreign cooperative joint venture, for 25 years. Under the agreement, signed in October 1997, the New World Infrastructure ownes 60% of the joint venture and Sichuan Qianwei Power Corporation the remaining 40%. The joint venture, which has invested US$30 million in 1997, operated an installed capacity of 40.5 MW. Such capacity consisted of two 6MW units and one 1.5 MW units installed in December 1991, one 13.5MW unit installed in February 1996 and another 13.5 WM unit installed in December 1996. In addition, the joint venture built an new 13.5 MW which started its commercial operations in March 1998.
