The objectives of the Sichuan Wudu Irrigated Agriculture Development Project for China are to: (a) increase the coverage of irrigation services in the project area in order to increase agricultural production; (b) provide water supply, in bulk, to small rural communities and industries; and (c) introduce a community-based participatory approach in the management of water facilities and infrastructure and increase of production capacity of higher-value agro-products to ensure the sustainable development of agriculture. Project has 3 components. Component 1: construction of main irrigation system. Component 2: development of community-based on-farm works in demonstration areas. Component 3: institutional capacity building and project management support.
