Description | Siderar Power Plant is a 160-MW plant at the General Manual Savio Steel Mill, an industrial site belonging to the Argentinean metal manufacturer Siderar. Houston Industries Energy (HIE) was selected by Siderar (SAIC) to sell 300 metric tons of steam per hour. HIE owns 100% of the inside-the-fence facility. The electricity will be sold to the Argentinean power pool and, possibly, for long-term contracts. The project's total cost was $90 million. The power plant was scheduled to start commercial operation in 1997. |
