Sidewalk Construction and Stormwater Improvements

The scope of the project includes the construction of 4.2 km of sidewalks and stormwater infrastructure. Minor changes include 1) extension of Airport Road sidewalk from Hwy 11 to the east side of 313 Airport Road. The Airport Road sidewalk will connect with an existing multi-use trail and therefore the sidewalk will be designed and constructed as a 3m wide multi-use asphalt cement sidewalk. Other elements of the project include curb and gutter installation, road restoration and tactile walking plates. The project will contribute to building a connected pedestrian network and improved stormwater management in North Bay. Sidewalks will be built along several streets and connect to existing sidewalks to provide safe and continuous walking paths to established transit stops. Stormwater management will be improved through the installation of stormwater pipes in place of the current drainage ditching. The project will improve the quality and safety of, and access to, public transit in North Bay, as well as improve the city’s capacity to treat and manage stormwater.
