Siem Reap's water supply rate is low, and it is the lowest in the third largest city in Cambodia. The city of Siem Reap, which is visited by tourists to see the Angkor Wat temple complex and has a population increase, is facing water needs, deepening water shortages, and deteriorating living environments. The Cambodian government prioritizes improving access to safe water as a key development goal. By 2023, it aims to provide safe water access to 90 percent of the urban population in the city departments, including Siem Reap, which includes eight municipalities.
