Siemens Wendell Microgrid Project

Siemens unveiled a new 1.25-megawatt AC microgrid at its Wendell manufacturing and electrification headquarters. The system combines a solar carport array with a 3.9-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system to manage electricity generation, storage, and usage in real time. It can operate independently from the grid in island mode during outages, maintaining power for production and other operations. The project includes 42 electric vehicle chargers and an integrated energy management system coordinating solar generation, battery storage, building operations, and EV charging.
