Description
Description | The Sierra Leone Three Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project (TTWSSP) is the result of a Bank-financed study in 2009, and continued commitment of the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) as well as development partners’ constant support to facilitate water sector reforms. The project was first developed in 2011 when the Bank (AfDB) was approached by the GdSL to join the Organization for Petroleum Exporting Countries Fund for International Development (OFID) for the funding of the program which is in line with the Country Strategy Paper (CSP 2005-2009, extended until 2012). In 2017, the GdSL requested additional resources from the AfDB Group to further implement the TTWSSP. The expected outputs of the TTWSSP's additional phase are: (a) increased and more equitable access to safe water and improved sanitation and hygiene practices; (b) enhanced performance of SALWACO (Sierra Leone Water Company), and more specifically improved management and operation of water and sanitation facilities in three provincial towns. The total project cost is UA 41.35 million. |
