The project comprises infrastructure funding for expansion and modernization of the potable water plants and supply systems of Silver Dragon Water Supply Group Limited (SDWSG) in water-stressed regions of China. The company is fully owned by China Water Affairs Group Ltd., which is the holding company of a group of water companies in China which owns and operates services in the clean water business (city water supply, pipeline direct drinking water, connection and construction). The capacity of the water plants and supply connections of the group reaches around 30 mln. people in China. The funding has been provided by DEG (KfW), as DEG is the mandated lead arranger for the syndicated loan facility of $25m. The work also includes the increase of end-consumer pipeline connections, including in rural areas, and the improvement of operational efficiencies (reduce leakage, increase energy efficiency), targeting regions under increasing water stress because of climate change.
