Description | Information Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited has come up with SilverLine [Semi High speed Rail] from Thiruvananthapuram & Kasargod with a ticket size of 63941 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves Laying of New Track/Bridge The current status of the project is pending for approval of DPR and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The SilverLine is expected to reduce journey time from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod from 10 to 12 hours to 4 hours. The journey time maybe further reduced when faster tilting trains are introduced in future. The line will reduce pollution and improve safety on the roads by reduction in motor vehicle congestion. SilverLine will also help to increase foreign exchange reserves of the country by reducing dependence on fossil fuel. For meeting the long-term transport needs of the state. |
