Description

Description

The proposed loan will cover the foreign exchange cost of the project, the total estimated cost of which will be $13.7 million. The difference between the two figures, representing local currency costs, would be met from the Board's own resources and loans from the Government of Singapore. Both Singapore and the Guarantor are undertaking to provide any additional sums that might be required to complete the project. The PUB came into existence on May 1, 1963, under the Public Utilities Ordinance passed that year by the State Legislature. Under this Ordinance the assets, liabilities and functions of the City Council in respect of the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water have been transferred to the PUB. The intake and treatment plant will be located in the State of Johore, and the treated water will be conveyed by a 17-mile long transmission main.
