The project involves construction of the 44 MW Singrobo-Ahouaty hydroelectric power plant and associated infrastructure, located near the Singrobo and Ahouaty villages on the Bandama river in Côte d’Ivoire. The project is structured around a 35-year Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) concession agreement signed with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire. The SPV is Ivoire Hydro Energy SA and its shareholders include Themis Clean Energy, a project development company, and IHE Holding, a company incorporated and majority owned by Mr Ekolan Alain Etty, a local entrepreneur. The total invest amounts to EUR 190 million or $ 216.04 million. Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) committed a total of EUR 174 million or $ 197.85 million, comprising a majority equity investment of EUR 24.4 million or $ 27.74 million, and a bridge loan facility of EUR 149.6 million or $ 170.1 million. The first disbursement of the loan occurred in December 2018. Financial close was announced on 24 January 2019. The plant will be built by Eiffage (France), an EPC contractor, selected following an international competitive bidding.
