Information IRCON West Bengal Sikkim and Bihar has come up with Sivok-Rangpo New Rail Line with a ticket size of 12745 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Sivok-Rangpo rail line is of a total length of 44.96 km of which 41.55 km falls in West Bengal and 3.41 km falls in Sikkim. This Pragati reviewed project is of strategic importance. [1] This is a national project and is very important for overall development of the state of Sikkim [2] Once completed it is expected to boost connectivity of the land locked state which shares its border with three neighboring countries, viz. China, Nepal and Bhutan apart from being strategically important. [3] Rail connectivity will also provide a reliable and economical transportation infrastructure. Project has been entrusted to M/s IRCON for fast track implementation. Out of 45 km length, 39 km [86percentage] falls in tunnels and 5percentage on major bridges.
