The purpose of this FC module is to support the employment initiative in the area of installation, repair and maintenance (IRM) coordinated by the non-profit organization National Business Initiative (NBI). The initiative focuses on young people and small craft businesses from peri-urban areas (mostly so-called townships) that are affected by youth unemployment and poverty. Through the cooperation of vocational schools with local business parks, these companies are supported in their development in order to secure their economic prospects for success, thereby creating further jobs and contributing to the socio-economic transformation of the country. As part of the FC module, five South African vocational schools will initially be supported by planning, building and equipping IRM support centers. The centers will be built and operated as a learning environment for IRM and ecological construction. They offer training measures and access to work and production areas, support company development and provide access to business opportunities. Thanks to the improved building capacities and the financing of service level agreements (SLAs), the vocational schools can expand their MSME support programs. The IRM Initiative places particular emphasis on the future-proof and sustainable business areas of the green economy with a high demand for qualified craft services.
