The Government launched the Skills Sector Development Program (SSDP) for Sri Lanka objective is to expand the supply of skilled and employable workers by increasing access to quality and labor market relevant training programs. The project consists of 2 components the first being program support to the Skills Sector Development Program which contains 2 pillars: (1) Pillar 1: Strengthening Sector Governance and Management. The main objective is to strengthen governance and management of the sector by a tighter and more intensive focus on results and more efficient use of resources; and (2) Improving the Quality and Relevance of Skills Development. The objective is to improve the quality and relevance of the skills development programs offered by all institutions, public, private and NGO. Finally component 2, Innovation, Results Monitoring, and Capacity Building this component aims to strengthen the capacity of MYASD and its participating agencies and help them to achieve the SSDP objectives.
