Weydemann Bros. produces films and series for the German and international market. We are guided by the vision of an equally political and entertaining filmic storytelling. The projects in this slate are four feature films “The Diplomat”, “The Silence Before You Speak”, “Burning Skin”, “Anela & Silan” and the series “Boys Club”. With this slate we will strengthen and expand the portfolio of Weydemann Bros. The projects follow our focus on telling stories that make people laugh and cry but also make them reflect on the times we live in, relying on both established and new partnerships with international partners and creatives, on tried and tested as well as innovative strategies, genres, target audiences and markets. With raised budgets we will be able to increase the visibility of the projects and strengthen the company, as well as expand the current permanent staff of 10 people in order to make it fit for the future. The projects all have an international dimension which makes them particularly suitable for international co-productions and worldwide exploitation. Gender balance, diversity in front and behind the camera are extremely important to us as well as green production. For example, 13 out of the 23 films we have produced so far, have been directed by women, as well as one series directed in a team of a woman and a man. We are building on previous successes we have been able to collect with our films and our creative partnerships. Our films have won over 200 prizes around the world, among them 10 German Film Awards, a Berlinale Silver Bear, a Grand Prix of the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, a Leopard in Locarno and a European Film Award and have been selected several times as official entry to the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film. 2019 Weydemann Bros. was awarded as one of Variety’s „10 producers to watch“ at Cannes film festival and won the Bavarian Film Award for best producers, as well as the Producers Award at Hamburg Film Festival in 2021.
