Description

Description

The Project consists of the installation of a new 100-acre, 10 megawatt (mW) solar array, complete with 36,000 solar photovoltaic modules, a large grid-connected battery array and inverter transformers in Slemon Park. Slemon Park is a residential, commercial, and industrial community owned and operated by the Slemon Park Corporation, which is a Prince Edward Island Crown Corporation. The Project aims to increase Prince Edward Island’s capacity for renewable energy and will support the Province’s progress towards being energy self-sufficient by producing 3.5% of the Province’s energy. By reducing Provincial reliance on imported fossil fuel electricity from New Brunswick and through the use of clean solar energy provided by this Project, the Slemon Park microgrid will result in the reduction of 67,170 tonnes of CO2 over the next 20 years.
