Description | Mondi SCP is investing €120 million to build a new biomass power plant at its integrated pulp and paper mill in Ružomberok, Slovakia. The project aims to enhance energy security, reduce reliance on natural gas, and improve local air quality by replacing the mill's existing bark boiler. The plant will increase the mill's energy self-sufficiency from 75% to 90% by 2027 and meet strict emission standards, cutting nitrogen oxide emissions by 50% and particulate matter by up to 83%. It will use residual materials from pulp and paper production to generate renewable energy, reducing landfill waste and fossil fuel reliance, with biomass sourced from certified forests. |
